ABS provide interfaces to Canadian
and US Customs using ACI and AMS.
Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) mandates the use of Advanced
Commercial Information (ACI) - Air for consignments arriving in
Canada.
CPB (U.S. Customs and Border Protection) mandates the use of AMS
for consignments arriving in U.S.
Air Conveyance Reports must be transmitted at least 4 hours prior
to arrival at the First Port of Arrival. This report contains details
of the Flight or Truck bound for Canada. The Air Cargo and Split
shipment reports must be transmitted at least 4 hours prior to arrival
of the goods at the Customs office of Declaration/First Port of
Report. If the duration of the flight is less than 4 hours, the
reports will be made when the aircraft is wheels up, en route.
The system handles imports, freight remaining on board (FROB),
interline transfer, transits, truck arrivals, and split shipments.
This information is transmitted electronically using EDI.
